WORKPLACE PROJECT
The challenges were the planning restrictions within the historical Cathedral Quarter, an archaeologically sensitive site and the requirement to bring all sites together into one development. We used red brick to match the existing Victorian building and lined the floor levels through where possible. The new buildings were a modern interpretation of the existing building, respecting its height and massing. A lively ground floor knitted the development together at the base dissolving the boundaries between old and new. A lightweight top floor achieved the required brief are without compromising the composition.
